We’ve Experienced 65 September 11ths In 8 Months

2977 people died on September 11th, 2001. It’s the greatest loss of life in a single day in modern U.S. History. Each year, we mourn this day and say that we will Never Forget.

Yesterday, on September 11th, 1004 people died just of COVID-19. There’s no collective mourning. There’s no memorial. Over 192,000 people have died of the virus.

That is 65 separate 9/11’s that have occurred over the past 8 months. That is eight 9/11’s per month.

There is so much collective trauma and loss that we have had to deal with in 2020. So, while we are told to get back to normal, we are surrounded by so much death and loss.

So, this is a reminder to reach out to the people you love, to connect to someone who may be silently hurting, to choose to be humane because we need each other now, more than ever.
